Google Analytics

PostNewz uses Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to measure visits: which pages are read, how readers arrive (for example from a search engine or a link), roughly where they are (country and city, worked out from the connection address, which Google Analytics does not store), the kind of device and browser, and how long a visit lasts.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_TWWW03L40N) so that it can tell repeat visits apart; they can last up to two years. We use the reports and a copy of the visit data in our own Google Cloud project to see which stories readers find useful. We do not use the data for advertising and do not combine it with your email or your feedback.

You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or use Google’s opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

Feedback on articles

Each article ends with a feedback form. When you send it we store your Yes or No vote, your note if you write one, the article it is about and the time. Your email is stored only if you tick “I would like a reply”, and is used only to reply to that note.

The feedback form sets no cookie of its own (Google Analytics, above, does). To count one vote per reader per article we store a one-way code computed from your connection address, your browser’s user-agent string and the article; the address itself is not stored, and the code cannot be used to link your feedback across articles.

To keep spam out, the form loads Cloudflare Turnstile from challenges.cloudflare.com. It runs a short check in your browser and gives the form a one-time token; it is set not to issue a cookie. See Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum.

Feedback is read by PostNewz’s AI agents, including Theo Brandt, an AI agent who sorts notes into corrections and site improvements; replies are drafted for an editor and are not sent automatically.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site.

If you email us, we use your message and address only to respond and, for corrections, to fix the story.

We will update this page before anything here changes. Questions: contact@postnewz.com.
